Another great week of cricket to report on with some more fantastic performances including First X1 skipper Jonny Farmer who ploughed through the opposition with a brilliant ‘Michelle’ Fyfer

Match Results
First X1 vs Southwater
- On our First XI’s first visit to Southwater’s new ground, the home side wins the toss and elects to field first.
- Tom Malcolm scores 10 from the first over, before play is temporarily halted by heavy rain and the match is reduced to 38 overs per side.
- Tom (25) and Alan Law (28) share their fourth half-century partnership of the season, but we collapse to 104 for 8, veteran Malcolm Davis (5 for 25) chiefly responsible.
- Martin Hopkins (37 not out), Nick Klein (16) and Jimmy Francis (5) add 50 valuable runs for the final two wickets. Jimmy is run out from the final ball of our 38 overs.
- Despite early strike from Nick Klein, Southwater reach 37 for 1 in the 10th over.
- Martin Hopkins makes two crucial breakthroughs in his first over, dismissing skipper Alex Harding (24) and potentially dangerous Nick Baker (0).
- Skipper Jonny Farmer exploits bowler-friendly conditions superbly, destroying the middle order in a deadly spell of 4 for 0. One of his victims is the prolific Johann Brouwer.
- Southwater are skittled for only 65, the final 9 wickets falling for only 28 runs. Jonny finishes with 5 for 17 from 6.2 overs, MOM Martin with 4 for 15 from 7.
- Seven different people take a catch, the best an astonishing reflex grab from ‘keeper DJ Dominique, standing up to Jonny.
- Three wins in a row for the First XI now, allowing them to swap places with this Saturday’s opponents, Billingshurst II.

- Welcome return to the Green for veteran Ben Thatcher and Luke & Leon Kilford
- Skipper Frank Vickery wins the toss and elects to bat after rain reduces game to 38 overs
- Blustery conditions and lively pitch greet openers Steve Calder Smith and Dan Vickery who put on 41 for the first wicket
- Steve goes on to score valuable 44
- Charlie Phillips comes out with guns blazing and whacks quickfire 27
- Ben ‘yes no yes no ‘ Thatcher sacrifices wicket in runout with Leon Kilford and offers to have a chat with colts on how to not get run out
- Luke Kilford rolls back the years and ends undefeated on 20
- Oppo keeper takes a few outstanding catches to keep Green wickets tumbling
- Green end on 165 for 9 off 38 overs
- Ifield make slow start to their innings
- Quick wickets see oppo reeling on 24 for 2
- Crucial catches dropped as Green let Ifield off the hook
- Frank Vickery claims another lbw and sends key batsman packing
- Ifield batman clubs his way to quickfire 21 in the 35th over with fine 6 off his last ball to seal the game

- Under 14’s come up against strong 3 Bridges team consisting of a number of county players
- Green lose the toss and are invited to field with only 9 players initially
- Ran Dawson takes early wicket to keep Green hopes up
- Bowlers struggle to find the mark as batsmen score effortlessly
- Zach Whittle makes immediate impact with fine bowling spell
- Wickets tumble after three batters retire on 40
- Three Bridges set target of 170 to win
- Green batsmen struggle against good bowling
- Jamie Attard scores his first 4 of the season
- Richard Wilson and Zach Whittle make valuable batting contributions at the end of the innings
- Zach Dawson stakes claim as the best batsman in the Dawson household after outscoring older brother Ran
- Green end on 88 for 8 after 20 overs
- Good batting and performances in difficult conditions by players who don’t usually play for the team are the key positives
